A little overview of MegaSquirt:

For those of you who do not know what the abbreviations mean:

MSnSE - Mega Squirt and Spark with the Extra Code [MS - Fuel only; MSnS - Fuel and Spark original code]
MSI - MegaSquirt I, There is also MegaSquirt II [MSII] and the soon-to-be-released MegaSquirt III [MS3] That is in still in Beta testing at the moment.

The differences between MSI MSII and MS3 are listed in detail here:

http://www.ms3efi.com/feature-xref.html

The biggest differences are better spark control with MSII if you use a distributorless ignition system like EDIS, and the Fuel and Spark tables go from 12x12 [with MSI MSnSE] to 16x16 [with MSII MSnSE]

MSI is just the main board [V3.0 (through-hole components) or V3.57(Surface Mount Components)] with a single processor, the MSII is a daughter board mounted on top of where the chip goes for MSI.

This is the V3.57 [SMC] board and the MSI chip:

This is the V3.57 with the MSII daughterboard:

With MS3 being so close to release and since I am using a setup that many people are using MSI on, I decided to go with the MSI V3.57 board.

To upgrade to MSII, all the hardware that is needed is the MSII daughterboard, and some software adjustments.

MS3 will also use the V3.XX board as a base, but unlike MSII which will fit in the standard case, it will be larger.

Here is a small video of MS3 in Beta testing in the UK on a turbo LM7:

Feel free to ask questions, we're all learning here.

Will this work with my stock MAF? Wink

MS3 sounds sexy. Lets just say....i'd hit it.

I'm real excited about learning more on this. Watching the operations of your Z really inspires me to make the same move on my 2j.

Cool, hope my 'mini-writeup' was easy to digest. I want people like Dave to not be scared of it because it looks intimidating.

I know I was really intimidated before I started getting into it.

I'm going to start another thread about my issues with noise on MS1.

Nick asked for me to find him the link for the writeup page:

http://www.diyautotune.com/tech_articles/megasquirt_install_writeups.htm

Poke around DIYAT a little as well, it'll get you familiar with the actual product itself, the MegaManual will familiarize you with the assembly/functions/tuning of MS once it's installed:
